5 Reasons why IoT is important in the workplace

The office is another home for many of us. People here spend more than half of their crucial time, taking good care of their time and efforts is what makes organizations work-appropriate. Technology never fails to help you with several mundane tasks in the office. One of the best technology is the Internet of things! The Internet of things aka IoT is connecting things with the internet. We will talk about 5 major reasons why IoT is a boon for offices. Here’s a glimpse of a smart office! The benefits of automation are not limited to just scheduling everything beforehand, instead, it has grown to “analyzing, improved safety, reduced cost and time”. Let’s discuss the major reasons for having an IoT-based smart office:

Better working atmosphere using IoT

A decent working environment is the basic necessity of any workplace and luckily IoT has knocked on the door for us here. Through IoT, you can create the best possible working environment for your employees. These smart home devices keep a check on the room’s temperature and humidity and automatically command appliances to perform. For example, a little rise in the room’s temperature will enable AC to get started automatically. Moreover, you can schedule these appliances and create a similar routine for the day-to-day working of the appliances. What do we do here at SmarDen? We have already scheduled our conference room’s appliances and as soon the clock hits 9:30 for a daily morning meeting, all the scheduled lights, fans, and projector get started with an appropriate room temperature. A perfect start to the day in peace 😉

Cutting down the electricity wastage

As a human, we have to agree on the fact of forgetting stuff that is often minor but costs you a lot. For instance, turning off the lights, coffee machine, and oven (because you were too excited for the lunch). How cool getting a notification is? Well, IoT is a savior here too. You get a notification when your appliance gets turned on and you get to know which employee turned it on. You can charge a fine from that one employee and use it for your next pizza party. (just saying)

A smart security system using IoT

There’s no better example of security than IoT. There are multiple smart locks and smart cameras you can use and operate from anywhere in the world. Out for a meeting but want to keep a check on employee’s activity? Why don’t you check on your smartphone? IoT is all about networking normally with the internet. You can install various sensors such as gas sensors, motion sensors, and door sensors for additional safety. Every device gets connected to the internet which means, complete control in your own hands! Oh here’s our favorite video from our smart office, let’s know how we did here. These sensors send you a notification on your phone when anything goes wrong so that timely action can be taken and major mishaps can be prevented. Do you have a better security idea using IoT? Voice assistants are your savior

Be it in the office or at home, nothing is better than Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant when it comes to listening. Running late for a client meeting and you are halfway to your cabin? Don’t move to switchboards or take out your phone from the pockets Instead command it to Alexa! You can set up a daily routine for your appliances and ask Alexa to perform it for you. What do we do at SmarDen? The very first person to enter the office doesn’t go to the switchboards, They simply say “Alexa, start my day” and all of the appliances linked get turned on and we start our happy day at work. We do the same while checking out from the office, “Alexa, Good night” we sign off from the office without leaving any lights turned on.

Schedule and save time

When it comes to saving time, nothing can beat the scheduling system. Be it a very important meeting or scheduling your social media posts for saving time. The best part is you can schedule your appliances along with appointments from your smartphone. Yes, that’s the power of IoT in the workplace. Next time you believe you’ll be running late, schedule these appliances and get the job right on time! Can you think of more ways to incorporate IoT at your workplace? We’d love to hear from you!
